Round Nine challenge is
The Third Slayer
This challenge (April 13th through June 15th 2008) focuses on those “other” Slayer who has been called either by: a) Buffy’s death when she jumped in Season Five. B) Another time Buffy died C) Post Chosen when all the Potentials have been called.
Be as creative as you want. The Slayer can be any current female character in the Buffy or Angel verse, any original character you create, or any female character in another universe.
You may enter an unlimited amount of stories which are new and a minimum of 1,000 words and/or one drabble or ficlet new, between 100 and 999 words.
You must provide a statement that this was written for the Fang Fetish Awards and provide a link. You may post it anywhere.
So what will it be? Dawn as a Slayer? Her best friend Janice? A potential who works with the Watchers Council? Another unknown girl in the outback? How about Slayers in SG-1, in Atlantis, at Hogwarts. A Cardiff Slayer?
Fiction should focus on the Slayer however it can be Gen (no pairings), fem or het pairings, or heck as long as the OC is a central point to the story you can write it male slash. (i.e. the central focus is on the Slayer, but Spike/Xander or Spike/Angel is the main pairing)
Edit: If we gave you the idea, and it is close to the challenge we will accept it! Come on - make a slayer!
Welcome to our site. A note for those who are new to nominating. Please don't be intimidated by the rules. Just do your best, if I have any questions I do try to email and ask you to clarify. I will not delete the nomination unless it is something like Human AU which we do not take.
- Any length of fiction is eligible for nomination, however fics that are under 1000 words are considered to be a drabble or ficlet and are only eligible in those categories.
- The only fiction we accept is based on a recognizable BTVS world. This does not mean it has to be canon. It can be extremely AU; however, the basic premise of a world that has vampires and slayers in it has to be adhered to. There are category and section restrictions please visit that section for clarification. Nominations that are in the wrong section or category are subject to deletion.
- If fiction is a WIP it must have at least 5 chapters and have been updated within the last two months. In order to win the fiction must have been updated within three months of judging end.
- Please do not nominate a fic that is riddled with errors. All fics should be beta'd, or fairly error-free. All fics will be screened by the judges for quality purposes and stories are subject to deletion if they do not meet basic standards such as correct spelling.
- Again, please check section descriptions below and category descriptions found on the Categories web page for what is allowed.
All categories must have 6 fics to be judged and will close after 15 entries have been received.
- Stories must be written in English.
- Please be careful in nominating. Regardless of how good a fic is, it cannot win if it does not meet the category requirements.
- Spuffy - This section is for the pairing of Spike/Buffy and derivations of such, i.e. Spike/Buffy/Dru or Spike/Buffy/Angel… However, it MUST include Spike and Buffy. It can include any form of Spike/Buffy that you can come up with, i.e. traditional Slayer/Vampire, Buffy can become a vamp, Spike can Shanshu, their positions can be reversed, etc. however we do not allow fics that take place in an all human world.
- All Pairings - This section is for all pairings within a recognizable BTVS world. There does not have to be a vampire or supernatural pairing in this section; however it does have to be BTVS or crossovers with BTVS. Therefore, we will accept pairings such as Wesley/Giles, Willow/Buffy, Willow/Wesley, and so forth but will not accept fics set in a human world that does not have vampires and slayers in it.
- Character Corners - This is a special category to showcase a specific character. In this category only, you can nominate any pairing or character-centric fic as long as it is about the character showcased for that round. There must be a recognizable BTVS world. There does not have to be a vampire or supernatural pairing in this section; however it does have to be BTVS or crossovers with BTVS. Round 6 will be a Watcher's Corner - all Giles, Wes and watcher;s fics.
- Vampire's Pet - This section is for vampires (with the exception of Spike/Buffy). The pairing must have a vampire in it. We accept all Angel, Spike, Darla, Dru and other canon vampires in addition to fics where one of the pairings was a vampire who turned human or a human who has been vamped.
- Best author is nominated by the judges based on fics that have won at this site. If you know of an author we have missed , please feel free to send the nomination form with them listed in the comments section as a consideration. We do not wish to overlook any authors, however we can only judge best author by the fics that we have read or are reading.
- "Outstanding Individual" - Nominations must be accompanied by an email to fangfetish@gmail.com with the name of the nomination, their email, and a minimum of one paragraph of why this person is outstanding. The paragraphs will then be sent without the name to a judge who will make the decision based on your submission.)
- Any fiction is eligible for a judge's choice award and at the judges' discretion can be held over to the next round.
- An author can have two nominations per category; self nominations are allowed; however, please make sure your fiction meets the requirements and is a quality fic.
- **Revised**A story can be nominated three times per round. FFA Challenge does not count towards the three.
- Any author who has been proven to be a plagiarist (see Stop Plagiarism) is banned from receiving any fiction nominations.
- Please fill out the form correctly with the url of the story and the author’s email address. The fiction must be archived where it can be accessed by the general public and the judges. If we can’t read it, we can’t vote.
- **Revised** In the section that says ‘rules’ type “twister”. Otherwise your nomination will be deleted.
- A judge, mod or the owner can be nominated; however, they are then excluded from voting in that category.
- Please note that if a fiction has won it may be excluded from similar categories. I.e. Winners of Best Spara or Spander cannot be nominated in Best Het or Best Slash.
- **Clarified** Stories which have already won three awards from Fang Fetish are not eligible to be nominated again. Judges Choice Award does NOT count towards this limit, nor do awards won from other sites.
- Last, a fiction must have all appropriate warnings on the fiction or you must supply them. If we find out the story has a subject like rape, death, or taboo subjects and it is not labeled as such by you or the author, we will delete it.
We do not mind dark or taboo fics; many of our judges love dark fics. However, it must be labeled properly so that we can assign it to judges who enjoy darker fics and not to ones who have requested to avoid them.
- There have to be 6 fic’s nominated in a category to be judged.
- Once a fiction has won an award, it is no longer eligible in that category for future rounds.
- In order to win, the author whose fic has been nominated must reply to the email sent to them confirming their address and acceptance of nomination.
- Judges' votes are confidential. There will be more then one judge for each section. I will not share judge's individual votes with anyone. People who harass the site owner or the judges on why they did not win will not only be banned from this site, but I will email everyone I know and tell them all about your complaints, demands and promptly make fun of you. If you have a serious question on whether or not you can be nominated again then feel free to ask Athenewolfe. However, harassment will get you mocked and ridiculed.
